How EntreAmigos Helped Shape the Community We Love in San Pancho

When we first arrived in San Pancho nearly twenty years ago, we knew we were stepping into a special corner of Mexico—rich with nature, culture, and the kind of warmth that makes a community feel like family. What we didn’t realize was that we were arriving at the same moment something else beautiful was beginning to bloom.

In 2006, just a year after we purchased the land that would become the Tailwind Jungle Lodge, a humble project appeared on the streets of San Pancho: simple tables, folding chairs, colorful paints, a few children's books and the vision of founder Nicole Swedlow. Curious children gathered. I joined them, paintbrush in hand, helping to create wooden signs decorated with seashells for the nature trail on our land.

These early afternoons on the street were the first days of EntreAmigos—before the library, before the recycling center, before the classes, color, and creativity that now fill the enormous bodega that houses San Pancho’s beloved community center.

From those humble beginnings, both EntreAmigos and the Tailwind Jungle Lodge grew—each rooted in community, nature, and a deep love for San Pancho.

Where EntreAmigos expanded into a vibrant center filled with art, education, environmental programs, and a thriving library, we shaped our land into an eco-conscious refuge for travelers seeking a meaningful connection to nature.
