🌿 Jungle & Beach Bucket List: A Family Adventure/Vacation in San Pancho, Mexico

Getting my kids to hike isn’t always easy… but turn it into a treasure hunt, and suddenly everyone is all in. Yesterday, on our wander down the jungle path to the beach, what began as a simple game of jungle bingo transformed into something much bigger — a Jungle & Beach Bucket List.
It started with tiny discoveries: a lizard darting across the trail, a palm-frond skeleton glowing in the sun, a perfectly spiraled vine. Then came the beach: searching for secret mud, collecting leaves and seed pods, following tiny crab tracks in the sand, and — the highlight — dolphins and a whale breach on the horizon.
Suddenly every step was an adventure. Every sound was a clue. Every corner of the trail held a new treasure waiting to be found.
Somewhere between the jungle and the ocean, we realized: this is a game that has to be shared!
For families seeking meaningful family adventure in Mexico, for travelers looking to reconnect with nature, and for retreat groups visiting our ecolodge in San Pancho, this playful bucket list is a simple way to slow down, look closely, and rediscover the magic around you.
At Tailwind Jungle Lodge — our family-built ecolodge on the Mexican Pacific — guests often tell us that it’s the small things that stay with them the most: the gecko chirping at night, the dawn birdsong, the sound of waves drifting up through the palms. This bucket list is our way of capturing those little wonders and inviting everyone — kids, adults, yogis, retreat hosts, and nature lovers — to participate.

Moments of Connection

Do a 60-second “sound map” — what do you hear?
Walk mindfully for one minute, as quietly as you can
Count how many shades of green you see
Pause to take one deep, ocean-filled breath
Collect three seeds — compare their shapes, sizes, and textures; guess how each one travels (wind? animals? gravity?)
Gather three leaves — explore their patterns and edges; which is thickest? Which holds the most water? Which tree do you think each leaf comes from?
Talk about what nature is teaching you today — patience, curiosity, slowing down, noticing the small things
